The Oscars are known to provide entertainment beyond the awards attribution and this year’s edition had plenty of emotionally engaging moments for its audience.

Jimmy Kimmel joking about how Steven Spielberg was the kid from The Fabelmans (which was nominated for seven Oscars in 2022) and looked much older now, was the moment with the biggest EIS of the whole show, outperforming the session’s average. It was followed by John Cena’s naked presentation of the Oscar for Best Costume Design, which performed 32% above the broadcast’s norm, reiterating how important this department in movies is.

Another Jimmy Kimmel joke took a top spot, with his reading of a tweet from former President Donald Trump about his poor performance as the host of this year’s Oscars. The joke got many laughs from the show’s audience and at home, achieving an EIS 28% higher than the session.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his movie twin Danny DeVito presented the Oscar for Best Visual Effects and made the audience cackle at their entertaining dynamic which started over 30 years ago, in 1988 with the comedy movie Twins. This moment captured spectators and performed 20% above the rest of the broadcast when it came to emotional impact.

Barbie’s actresses, Kate McKinnon and America Ferrera set out to present the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film and Best Documentary Feature, but like most presenters, started their time with a joke about Jurassic Park and Jurassic World being documentaries, which prompted Steven Spielberg’s involvement. When McKinnon got confirmation from Ferrera and Spielberg that those were indeed movies, she asked who was receiving all her “tasteful nudes”, to which Spielberg “awkwardly” points to himself. This carefree moment captured viewers’ engagement, performing 17% better than the rest of the broadcast.
